How To Replace Headlight Bulb In 2010 RAM 1500
- Prepare Tools: You'll need a 10mm socket, a trim tool or similar (like a Stanley cat paw), and optionally a rag to protect the paint.
- Remove Push Pins: Locate and remove the five push pins on the top of the grille using the trim tool. Be gentle to avoid damage.
- Unscrew Bolts: Find and unscrew the two 10mm bolts holding the grille. Note the difference between coarse thread screws (for plastic) and fine thread screws (for steel).
- Release Grille: Carefully loosen the grille. Do not force it from the top as it might break the tabs at the bottom.
- Access Headlight Assembly: Push the tab (located at the end near the side of the vehicle) from underneath to release the headlight assembly. Swing it open like a door.
- Remove Headlight Bolts: Unscrew the two 10mm bolts on the face of the headlight assembly. If there's an adjustment screw (T20 star bit), leave it if it's not needed.
- Access Bulb Compartment: Open the trap door (located behind the wheel well) by removing the push pin. Reach in and push up the tab to release the headlight assembly.
- Remove Old Bulb: Disconnect the light by turning and pulling out the bulb. Avoid touching the bulb with bare fingers.
- Install New Bulb: Insert the new bulb. If it's an HB3/9005 bulb, ensure correct orientation and secure it.
- Reassemble: Reattach the headlight assembly by snapping it back into place. Lock it by pulling down the lever accessed through the trap door.
- Replace Grille and Bolts: Put the grille back, ensuring the tabs are correctly aligned. Screw in the 10mm bolts and replace the push pins on top.
- Test Headlights: Turn on the headlights to ensure they're working correctly and adjust if necessary.
