FAQs

How to change headlight bulbs on a 2014 Jeep Grand Cherokee

Prepare for Replacement

Ensure the vehicle is stable, and the lights are turned off.

Accessing Bulbs

Open the hood to access the headlight assembly. On the passenger side, you can move the ECU out of the way. Push back a couple of tabs to reposition it without unplugging. For additional access, you may unbolt the washer fluid reservoir using an 8mm socket.

Removing the Air Box

On the driver's side, loosen the hose clamp and remove the air box for better access. This involves unclipping a few connectors and pulling out the rubber grommets.

Removing Headlight Covers

Locate the headlight covers in the assembly. They are usually secured with a quarter turn. Remove the covers to access the bulbs.

Replacing the Bulbs

The bulbs are also held in place by a quarter turn mechanism. Turn and remove the old bulbs. When handling the new bulbs, avoid touching the glass to prevent oils from your hands from shortening their lifespan. Connect the new bulb to the harness before placing it in the assembly to avoid dropping it. Secure the new bulb with a quarter turn.

Testing the Bulbs

Before reassembling everything, test the new bulbs to ensure they work properly.

Reassembly

Replace the headlight covers with a quarter turn. On the driver's side, reposition the air box and secure all connectors and grommets. On the passenger side, reposition the ECU and bolt the washer fluid reservoir back in place.

Final Checks

Ensure all components are back in their original position and secured properly.
