How to Replace 2018 RAM 2500 Headlight Bulb
- Open the Hood: Start by opening the hood of your RAM 2500. This is where you realize it's not a quick job due to the truck's large engine space.
- Remove the Grill: Initially, try removing bolts from the headlight housing. Realize the whole grill needs to come off. Carefully take out the plastic strip above the grill, watching out for tabs (they may break easily).
- Unbolt the Housing: After removing the grill, access and unscrew the long bolts securing the headlight housing. There are two bolts at the top and bottom of the housing.
- Access Wheel Well Bolts: Find and release additional bolts located in the wheel well area, which are essential for releasing the housing.
- Remove Caps and Replace Bulbs: Once the housing is loose, remove the caps to access the bulbs. The low beam is an HB3 bulb – unplug it, plug in the new bulb, and twist to secure. For the high beam (H11), follow the same procedure.
- Reassemble: After replacing the bulbs, reverse the disassembly process. Reattach the housing, ensure all bolts are tight, replace the grill, and secure the plastic strip (even if some tabs are missing).
- Test the Lights: Finally, test the new headlights for functionality and brightness before considering the job done.
